CCTV footage has emerged of the incident on Thursday in Ningbo, China’s Zhejiang Province.

The video shows a thick crowd piling onto the escalator.

It randomly reverses and appears to pick up speed, sending people flying.








At least five people were injured after people were stacked on top of one another.

The escalator quickly stops before more are hurt.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause.
