Mr Yan Xiangdon, the Director, China Cultural Centre, Abuja, said more than 150 secondary students from the FCT have been selected to perform Chinese songs and dances on Feb. 3.

Xiangdon told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on the sideline of a book presentation, entitled “China in the Eyes of An African Journalist”, authored by Mr Julius Enehikhuere, an Assistant Editor-In-Chief of NAN, in Abuja.

He said that the performance was a special collaboration with the FCT Secondary Education Board (SEB), adding that it is part of the continued efforts to strengthen its cultural relationships with Nigeria.

He said also that another Chinese arts performance (Quinghai Art Troupe) has been scheduled to hold on Jan. 29.

Others include Chinese Cultural Time-out with Corner Schools, 2016 Spring Festival Celebration and Awards, 2016 Wushu Competition, and Chinese Movie week to hold Feb. 4.

“We have been engaged in different collaborations to enhance both countries cultural relationships.
“For example, in 2015, we had cultural evening in collaboration with National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC), which was held in celebration of NCAC 40th anniversary.

“It was a way of promoting Nigerian culture.
“We organise events at different locations of the city and school, where we send our artistes from the Embassy and Chinese companies to stage performances, sing and dance.
“It is usually a joint performance which includes both Chinese and Nigerian songs and dances.
“We also make provisions for computers, books to help the children learn these cultures with ease and efficiency,’’ he said.

Xiangdon also assured Nigerians of effective cultural partnership for better cultural enhancement.
