Abubakar Audu


Audu was said to have complained of stomach ache on Saturday shortly after voting and returning to his country home in Ogbonicha, Ofu Local government, and was advised to take a rest. Though some said he had died as early as 10am the following Sunday but other source said he slumped and died after the Independent National Electoral Commission declared the result of the election inconclusive.
One of the aide of the APC candidate, Tenimu Nasidi said being a Muslim they have taken his death in good faith as they strongly believed that God gives and God takes, “To me I believed that his time was up; nothing any man can do to stop it”.
Audu was born on October 24, 1964 A former banker, Audu, 68, had first been elected as governor of the state in 1991 – serving from 1992 till 1993, under the abortive third republic.
After five years of military rule, he was elected again under the platform of the All Nigeria People’s Party and governed the state from May 1999 to May 2003 after he failed in his re-election bid.
